About the National Gallery of Australia

The National Gallery of Australia (NGA), previously known as the Australian National Gallery, serves as Australia’s foremost art museum and is among the largest in the country, housing over 166,000 artistic creations. Situated in the Australian Capital Territory’s city of Canberra, it was founded in 1967 by the Australian Government to function as a public art museum at the national level. Currently, Nick Mitzevich is the director of the NGA.
